Why decals are the new wallpaper!
Don't get me wrong I love a good wallpaper! Beautiful, colourful designs and gorgeous patterns... All the heart eyes. However, when you're on a budget or just looking for a more simple alternative decals are for you!
Easy peasy decal squeezy
Say goodbye to long rolls of wallpaper and pattern matching... decals are super easy to apply. The great thing about the triangle decals I used in this jungle themed room is that I was easily able to peel them off and re-stick them if I wasn't keen on the placement first time round. They didn't tear and stuck perfectly when I re-stuck them. Big thumbs up for the beaut decals from this company! As they're so easy to peel off they can be easily replaced with different ones to create a different effect whenever the mood takes you. This also makes them a super choice if you're renting as they come off without damaging the wall beneath- win win!
They're a cheaper alternative
Beautiful wallpaper often doesn't come cheap, especially when you've factored in labour or tools on top of the cost of the actual rolls of wallpaper. Decals can be a much cheaper alternative as they're often sold in packs so you can buy as many or as little as you need!
They're so on trend
Decals are a surefire way to achieving that 'Insta look'. Whilst this is of course not on everyone's checklist of wants there's no denying that these little beauties can brighten up a tired space and add that element of fashion and design to a room! Whilst I'm all for doing what YOU want and not following trends if you do happen to like the modern look of kids rooms then decals are for you.
They let you do you!
I find decals are super flexible as you can choose to put them exactly where you want them. For example, you may have a bare patch of wall which you feel needs a bit more pattern but doesn't necessarily lend itself to a picture, nor being fully wallpapered. Or perhaps you'd like to use different decals on different walls as I did in the picture above. I used the green feather decals on two of the walls where they just would have looked too plain for a kids room if left blank (IMHO) and the black triangle decals around Mr T's fuzzy felt head to give him some company up there. I then chose to continue the decals up above the blinds and around the book ledges as I just fell in love with them a bit!
What's more, you can decide how many you want and the spacing between each decal giving you more of a choice with the finish you want. For the triangle decals in this room I felt they looked best spaced about 20-30cm apart but this is no hard and fast rule. There is plenty of choice when it comes to decals and as they come in plenty of sizes and pack sizes you really can tailor your pattern to whatever you like! Like I said- they're so flexible!
So there you have it- my vote for decals! I hope this has persuaded you to give them a try and, as always, I'd love to see what you do with them so do tag me or pop a pic over to me!
